Frequently Asked Questions

Everything people usually ask before signing up.

Is BookmarkHub actually free?

Yes. The Free plan holds 20 bookmarks with full search, notes, tags, favourites, and import/export — no card required, and it doesn't expire or stop working after a trial period.

What happens when I hit the 20-bookmark limit on the free plan?

Nothing is locked or deleted. Everything you've already saved stays fully searchable and editable — you just can't add a 21st bookmark until you upgrade to Pro or remove some existing ones.

Is the browser extension free too?

Yes, the extension is free on every plan, including Free. It's the same one-click save experience whether or not you ever upgrade.

Which browsers does the extension work in?

Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, Arc, Vivaldi, and Opera. Safari isn't supported yet. The BookmarkHub website itself works in any browser regardless.

How is this different from my browser's built-in bookmarks bar?

A browser bookmark only stores a title and a URL — neither is usually what you actually remember about the page. BookmarkHub saves a note and tags alongside the link, and search checks those too, so you can find something again by what you remember about it, not just what it was originally titled.

What's the difference between tags and collections?

Tags describe what something is, and a bookmark can carry several at once — good for categories that don't have a natural end point. Collections describe what something's for, and a bookmark sits in exactly one at a time — good for a specific project or trip with a start and a finish. More detail in Tags vs. Collections.

Can I export my bookmarks if I want to leave?

Yes, any time, in one click. There's no lock-in — everything you've saved is yours to take with you.

Is my data private? Do you sell it or track me?

No ads, no data resale, no cross-site tracking. The only analytics tool in use is Umami, which is cookieless and can't identify you individually. Passwords are hashed and salted, never stored in readable form. Full detail in the Privacy Policy.

Can I self-host BookmarkHub instead of using bookmarkhub.net?

Yes. BookmarkHub is self-hostable, and the browser extension can be pointed at your own server URL instead of bookmarkhub.net during setup.

How do I cancel or manage a Pro subscription?

From the account menu's Manage subscription option, which hands off to Stripe's own billing portal. You can cancel any time; your account keeps Pro access until the end of the period you've already paid for, and nothing is deleted when it switches back to Free.

Still have a question? Free for your first 20 bookmarks — no card, no trial timer.
